FROM RAWSTOCK TO FINISHED PRODUCT

DESALTING
After being carefully selected, the rawstock is fed into the supply chain processes. In the first step the salt previously applied to preserve the raw hides is mechanically removed.
LIME
In this step, the raw material is inserted into the drum where the hides are rehydrated and shaved using chemicals.
FLESHING
The excess fat still attached under the skin is mechanically removed.
SPLITTING
After having undergone liming, unhairing and fleshing, the pelt hide is split into 2 parts - grain and split - thanks to a splitting machine.
TANNING
The product is treated with tanning chemicals such as chrome or tannins (vegetable tanning) or wet white tanning.
SHAVING
The hide is fed into the shaving machine to achieve even thickness along its entire surface.
RETANNING-DYEING
Wet blue or wet white hides are processed to achieve the desired physical-technical characteristics of the finished article: mechanical resistance, colour, softness, elasticity, water fastness and breathability.
DRYING
After retanning and dyeing, the processed hide is vacuum dried or toggled to remove excess water.
FINISHING
The raw material is almost ready. Once tanned and dried, special processing will confer the specific surface appearance required by the customer.
DRUMMING
The finished leathers are inserted into a drum that gives them greater softness by milling.
SELECTION
The hides are carefully selected before being packed and shipped.
